With the crypto world waiting in anticipation for the Merge, we opted for a cover depicting the prevailing market conditions. Bear competes with bull in a tug of war as a candle alternately turns green and red between them. With Dudly on honeymoon, it fell to Amal to nail an art style that hadn’t been used on a cover for a long time.
He broke the animation down into two parts: the necessary (the bull, bear and tug of war) and the “glitter” (embellishments like the landscapes and the flames). The tug of war mechanic proved deceptively difficult. The bear and bull needed to move in sync but with enough of a time delay to make their struggle look realistic.
After perfecting the core animation, Amal worked on smaller details like the clouds and fires. An array of turbulent gradients, distorted warps and radial blurs added the final touches and then 

it was on to the soundscape. The dramatic score and straining grunts perfectly capture the push-pull energy of the markets at the time.
Market sentiments dominated Gazette as we opened with a guide to making money during the bear. We also looked at the rise of Lasogette and warned against Merge scams.
Week 35’s AirDrop came from The AI Illustrator. ‘Complicated” was inspired by a quote from Zhuangzi and shows a futuristic cyborg with a distinctly human, anguished look in their eyes.
