Twitter has a new master, Elon Musk! This was the biggest news of the week apart from the Reddit NFTs. Elon’s tweet of carrying a sink into the Twitter HQ broke the internet.

Let That Sink in

Elon completing his Twitter purchase (and all the chaos that ensued as top executives were fired) dominated the news week alongside Reddit’s NFT experiment. We opted for a ghastly, Halloween-style cover depicting a sink that bubbles like a cauldron. Elon stands on the edge, encouraging the executives into the smouldering liquid where they sink beneath the surface, never to return.
Of course, you’ll find plenty of other references to news events. Jack Dorsey perches on the edge of the sink and Reddit’s NFTs bob up and down on the toxic surface. Horrifying details like the butcher’s knife, the poison bottle and the tombstones evoke truly blood-curdling vibes befitting the season.
The cover began as a simple sketch that arranged the various elements around the sink. After moving away from the idea of a more traditional painting style, Amal and Dudly worked frame by frame to create the animations (the bubbling sink, the smoke, the drowning executives and the floating NFTs) in Adobe After Effects.
