A cold FTXmas for degen dad and his fam. It’s rough out there now… but don’t give up: it’s always darkest before the dawn!

We wanted to wish all our subscribers and readers a very happy Holiday Season. The big news of the week was Sam Bankman-Fried getting bail (for the princely sum of $250 million) so we settled on the idea of FTXmas. The cover shows a father and son peering wistfully through a shop window, unable to afford anything as snow falls around them.

On the other side of the window, things are going much better for SBF, who sits on Santa Claus’ knee and makes a Christmas wish for bail. The toy shop also includes references to other major news stories including NEWHERE, Otherside and Lucrese’s artwork.

Amal intended to render the cover in a painted style but realised that this would make it harder to capture certain details like the expressions on Santa and SBF’s faces. Instead, he opted for a comic book aesthetic inspired by Tintin illustrator Herve. After completing the illustration (with some help from his girlfriend!), Amal added subtle animations before handing over to Dudley for the finishing touches.

Gazette covered the rumours of corruption at Noun DAO as well as naming and shaming every celebrity being sued for promoting BAYC. We also chatted with Gozde and took a look at why Mark Zuckerberg’s Metaverse is failing so badly.

This week’s ArtDrop was a spiritual piece from Prateek Dhiman. ‘Inner Circles’ shines a light on the infinite number of beings inside all of us, guiding us towards enlightenment.
