That week we saw a breathtaking sale where “Death Drip” by Xcopy on SuperRare sold for 1000 ETH! At the same time, while the world was in quarantine, the cargo ship the “Ever Given” ran aground during its passage in the Suez Canal.

XCOPY's Death Push

Issue #28 was published on Sunday 28th of March 2021, the 12th week of the year. The amazing cover was created 100% by Dudly and turned out to be one of the most popular covers we have published to date.

That week we saw a breathtaking sale where “Death Drip” by Xcopy on SuperRare sold for 1000 ETH! At the same time, while the world was in quarantine, the cargo ship the “Ever Given” ran aground during its passage in the Suez Canal. The images of the stuck container ship were captivating and  it was a global event that we really wanted to document.
We decided to go for a cover that pays homage and celebrates the artist’s success, so we mimicked Xcopy’s style while creating our own unique story.

The container ship was transporting “fly juice” and “cricket soup” which are well known artworks by the artist (these items were made from scratch). The ship then gets stuck and some death character comes to tip it straight back, and continues its way out of the canal.
Incredibly enough, at the time of publishing, the ship was projected to be stuck for 3 weeks, but only 6 hours after publishing the Gazette, the ship was freed! We felt like we moved the ship.

When we contacted Xcopy to gift him an issue we were delighted to hear that he already bought one and told us he loved it!
Also covered in this issue was the story of Moxlsy “The Legend of Straybits” in a wonderful interview by Dr. Terminus, which he has pinned on his Twitter profile. Another piece offered in this publication was a beautiful interview with OG crypto-artist Max Osiris, definitely worth a read if you haven’t yet.
