The Cryptopunks market saw incredible demand and amazing sales of rare pieces. Prices shot up, and it was a surreal experience, plus a huge reward to the believers. Some of the sales might appear a bit low for today’s standard, but at the time they were record-setting.

That’s why we chose to go forward with a Pixel-Art-inspired cover.The cover pays heavy tribute to Cryptopunks, depicting them as Moai timeless sculptures gazing at the viewer. In the background we see a spaceship launching, which was a nod to the Tom Sachs Rocket Factory which saw some serious sales and attention. Hidden under the ground, you’ll find the claw holding cube with a Chromie Squiggle referencing Art Blocks. 

There is a Bored Ape skull and reference to our “Gazettes” generative art project selling out. There’s a Punk Bot cameo, plus a fencing sword in US colors reminiscent of the US Olympic team borrowing Punks as PFP. 
The punks depicted were provided by their owners for their appearance on our cover! Pepe as Pegz project and the horse stick toy for Wicked Stallions were also featured. 

At the time of writing, the Punk floor was at 22 ETH, which seemed crazy at the time. There was euphoria around NFTs and we saw “Stoner Cats” release their project to fund their animated series where one of the cats is voiced by Vitalik Buterin. 
We raised the question, “Are we experiencing a Lollapalooza Effect?” and we’re still looking for that answer.

Overall a super memorable week that was dominated by HYPE, FOMO and euphoria. The ArtDrop for issue #46 was a free-to-mint NFT: Redlion Studios’ first comic book release.
