Liminal (Twitter) Spaces

Issue #55 was published on Sunday, October 5th 2021, week 39 of the year. 
The spooktober season was kicked off with an eerie illustration to mark the changes happening in NFTs. The cover was tastefully designed by Dudly.
Twitter’s announcement that it will be integrating NFTs into its UI got the entire community on its toes.

This was also an assurance that the company was interested in backing DeFi – a good sign to users of crypto and NFTs that primarily use Twitter to engage and communicate. Adding to that, Justin Taylor- Head of Consumer Product Marketing (wearing a cool cat NFT) shared a tweet with a sneak peek of a working experimental UI with NFT Integration. In other news, there was Cardano NFTs pumping, Known Origin rolled out Triple lock royalties, and an upsetting $5 wrench incident in Russia.

Twitter integration took centre stage in the artwork and was rendered using the concept of liminal spaces. In architecture, “Liminal spaces” are defined as “the physical spaces between one destination and the next.” This was the food for thought for the cover. A monumental space for a transitional “corridor” of inevitable NFT mass adoption. The objects in the artwork are accordingly spaced to bring in an eerie sense for a passerby. In the forefront you see Larry the Twitter Bird floating atop a coffee table, and in the far-off Ethereum poses as the center of attention and power. The “T” formed by the light was placed intentionally – “T” as in transform, transition, threshold. The daunting soundtrack and the mammoth monuments conveyed the feelings of the time. 

NFTs are in the corridor of being adopted by the masses and the Twitter integration was a signal like none other.
