The Legend of SaruTobi

Issue #61 was published on Sunday, November 14, 2021, week 45 of the year. ETH gas is never going to be what it once was, at least not until there’s some new developments. The laboratorial Ethereum cover was invented by Dudly and Amal.

We covered the tale of the first blockchain games by SaruTobi; the often pitiable state of OpenSea; Beeple discords under vicious attacks; and the ill fate of HEN that had been discontinued. We also shared our two cents on how to be on the lookout for projects that haven’t airdropped tokens yet, and what things you need to know before jumping on your first NFT boat.

The week was slow in sales for many projects as ETH gas prices continued to shoot up. This spike was a sign for a cover. Due to the nature of NFT news and how little reference you can take from the outside world, it’s quite often difficult to picture certain topics and subjects. We believe we struck a chord here with the laboratory concept.

A large laboratory where a colossal amount of gas is used to perform as simple a task as pressing a button. The idea was conceived after throwing around a few others that involved imagery of what queued transactions look like (even one where an alien visits Earth to find the gas price is too high to survive). We added to the mix of laboratory equipment a “hacked” Beeple head floating in some fluid, a SaruTobi joystick, Air “drops” accumulating, and a HEN specimen preserved for historical evidence. 

Gas prices may continue to rise but projects are finding workarounds and blockchains are developing ways in which they can curb this surge.
