Issue #76 was released on Sunday 27th February as the world shook with the reverberations of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. 

Our cover stood for one thing and one thing only: Slava Ukraini. The cover went through several different designs before we settled on the final version. It's a piece that shows the strength of the Ukrainian people rather than portraying them as victims. The hand of Death places a bomb on a Ukrainian girl’s doorstep. She opens the door, but instead of fleeing in terror, she makes the bomb vanish in a puff of dust.

Sounds of war accompany the animation, along with a swelling musical overture. We added the words later. The text on the doorstep reads ‘My Home’ and the text higher up translates as ‘Glory to Ukraine.’ Small details like the Ukrainian flag on the letter box and the now infamous “Z” painted on the bomb complete the cover.

This cover was a token of support amongst the outpouring of solidarity from around the world. Crypto and NFTs will always stand for justice and freedom. We like to think that the cover of #76 expresses this, too.

Ukraine dominated Gazette with articles on how we (as Web3 builders) can help, along with a list of Ukrainian artists to support. We also lifted the lid on the alleged culprit behind Ethereum’s biggest ever hack.

#76’s ArtDrop was “Yellow Achira,” a vibrant and colourful flower charm. The piece was created to bless people with happiness, a much-needed sentiment during such a difficult week.
