Sunday 3rd April saw the release of Issue #81 and the start of what looked like an upward trajectory for crypto.

Dopest Pump🎞️

We wanted an optimistic cover in keeping with the bullish sentiment. This issue included an interview with indie filmmaker Miguel Faus (director of Calladita), so a movie theme felt appropriate - but which movie? The Ethfather and Gone With The Dip were both suggested until we settled on Forest Gump, which eventually transformed into Modest Pump and then Dopest Pump.

Vitalik and Satoshi were of course the stars. Much of the artwork was created using brushes in Photoshop, and it’s the handiwork of the incredibly talented Loish. The fur on Vitalik’s costume was a particular challenge (it needed to be drawn as individual strands), but after a lot of hard work, practice and tutorials the look turned out just right.

We wanted to keep the design fairly tranquil, so there wasn't a huge scope for animation. Look closely and you’ll notice Satoshi (wearing BTC socks, of course) tapping his foot as Vitalik sways.

The big interview with Miguel Faus led Gazette. He talked about filmmaking, Calladita and how he managed to bring the project to life with funding from Web3 and NFTs. Elsewhere, we wondered how Ronin could possibly have missed a $600 million theft and delved into XCOPY’s iconic work.

“Phantasmagoria” by Lily Lorelei was the ArtDrop for Issue #81. It embodies joy, freedom and playfulness, all the while reminding us that these are the natural states of existence.
