Issue #89 dropped on Sunday 29th May at the end of another bleak week for crypto.

Given the state of the markets, it’s not surprising that we opted for a horror-themed cover. With the bear market showing its teeth, Red suggested that a grizzly should take the spotlight. As soon as we settled on this, Dudley came up with the broader concept: two children lost in a terrifying forest and confronted by a gigantic bear.

The dark fairytale setting was inspired by Czech artist Tomski Polanski. His instantly recognisable style consists of sharp lines and gradients. Amal used a special parallax zoom to bring the scene to life and evoke a nightmare atmosphere. Parallax creates a movie-style effect by separating the layers into background, middle and foreground. 

Small details like the BTC to the moon logo and the ETH symbol on the quivering children’s backpacks complete the cover (and capture the horror investors were feeling this week!).

Elon once again dominated Gazette as we covered his ongoing crusade for free speech and the big corporations (including Coca-Cola, Disney and Kraft) and influential figures (looking at you, Bill Gates) trying to stop him. We also included an indispensable guide to Etherscan, a list of the most botched NFT drops in history and the ominous rumblings of life coming from a long-dead ICO scam.

This issue’s ArtDrop was simply entitled ‘Tear.’ A deeply moving piece from Haningwaslost.eth, it was inspired by the political crisis in Thailand and shows the weeping face of a nation.
