We delve into Lisa's journey as she reflects on her latest venture with Redlion Gazette. Her candid thoughts provide a fascinating glimpse into the creative process, from the initial spark of inspiration to the collaborative energy that fuels the project.
As with all group projects it is good to come prepared. Obviously, I was not, unless we count being sort of stressed and blocking it out.
I woke up Thursday morning with the slight panic of a middle school kid who didn’t prepare a presentation for school. What was I making? What has been happening in the space? I opened my Twitter and scrolled pasted three posts about Matt Kanes new project and had a “let it all burn” moment. So yeah, it had to be that.
So thank you Mr Kane, I couldn’t have asked for a better moment to capture.
I would like to say that I pitched the team my idea but I sort of just announced that this is what I’m making. I did produce a concept sketch and the words “This is not a Matt Kane”. Thankfully the team has a lot of experience working with artists, which we all know isn’t an easy task.
I had no idea that there would be two covers, so that was a fun curveball. We (maybe mostly me) decided on a physical and a digital version but both of them lean mostly physical, they are different enough though and the 1/1 cover had a lot more physical elements.
I would love to say that I planned composition, color scheme etc but I just grabbed whatever was on the table and hoped it would turn out ok. Thinking gets you into all sort of trouble so it’s best to just go with your intuition.
I was blown away with the vibe and enthusiasm from the team, there was zero friction and it really speaks to their long experience working on this project. I’m truly humbled to have been included amongst all the talent and history of the space. 10/10 would recommend, these guys are legends.
Stay tuned for more captivating covers and artistic revelations from Redlion Gazette and the interesting cover artists we will continue to bring.Â
