If you weren't around NFTs last week, then brace yourself as there is literally a frenzy on the streets. It seems like the biggest ever gold rush just hit our community hard. Almost all floor's prices are multi-x up, and it seems it is not ending soon.
Believe it or not, but it has already been half a year since we exclusively featured Punks on our cover (#23). And what a comeback. Punks are on fire, and the latest sales are out of this world. We drained our brains to the max to discover the final concept. Yeah, it even hurts sometimes.
After several dreadful hours, the eureka moment had finally come. I remembered the Moai statues from Easter Island and that we could dress them up like Punks. Red hopped on the Punks discord to ask folks to volunteer their Punks. Thanks to killa4u_3 (#72), ajc(#8327), send.eth(#9376) and FMM(#1689) for their contribution.
Choosing the pixel art style was set from the beginning. The last time we did, it was issue number #18! So I removed dust from Aseprite pixel art-making software and started to paint a landscape background. Isn't it soothing that it's just plain like that? Also, metaphorically the green slopes of land are symbolizing the current green NFT markets.
Time for stone punks. Depicted as Moai statues, we refer to their NFT OG status. They are precious relics that anyone new to NFT space looks up to as something special and desired. And how nice they're pumping, aren't they?
And what we have hidden under the ground? We are reusing the claw holding cube with Chromie Squiggle referencing Art Blocks, crazy. Apparently, there is a Bored Ape skull and this weekend sold out of the Gazettes' gen art project. Punk Bot is self-explanatory. Then there is a fencing sword in US colors reminding the US Olympic team borrowing punks as PFP. Pepe as Pegz project and horse stick toy for Wicked Stallions.
Last but not least, reference is a rocket by Tom Sachs on Red's demand after a prefinal review of the cover art. Issue number made of clouds and 8bit music background is just tiny cherry on the instant classic cover top.
Well, this week's breakdown was heavy but the same as the last week in NFTs. Good luck ou there.
