Gopniks love Adidas tracksuits. Adidas loves Ape NFTs. NFTs love South Park. Yes, we made that connection.Â
It wasn’t a hard idea to conceive given the Slav influence in our team. Whether or not we have gopniks in our team will remain confidential. The first idea for the cover was that we use the iconic South Park style as inspiration. After South Park featured NFTs in their latest episode it would be a sin to not have our latest issue inspired by the show that’s infamous for commentary on popular culture.Â
We threw a couple of ideas on board to stir up a plan. That’s when Red suggested using a gopnik ape. For those who are not familiar with gopniks, a gopnik in Russian, and in Russia, is now a drunken hooligan, small-time lout, and criminal. We engrained the ape into the gopnik and placed him inside an Adidas store. Outside we have people illustrated in the iconic style rioting against the lousy drop by Adidas. On the top corner, you can find a small message that went viral after a degen contacted Adidas support.Â
The complex part about the cover was definitely making the gopnik dance. The below image can give you an idea of how complex the animation was for the gopnik and the surroundings. It’s always an extreme pleasure when we push boundaries and explore different territories for inspiration.
Happy holidays and Merry Christmas to all our loving frens and supporters. See y’all next week with another exciting cover!
