The past week we saw NFT London hosted by NFT NYC (sounds weird to say but that’s what happened) become another successful conference by the team promoting NFTs and Web3.
We started off thinking that we would depict the event with a typographic graphic poster. Something we haven’t really tried out for a Gazette before. Still, after a few iterations of different ideas we came up with the idea that we could create a vector map of the London Underground, which is iconic and historical, but of course with an NFT spin to it. What we first thought would be a few hours of work turned out to be tedious in its own way. We ran into some hurdles trying to create a map that resembles the Underground, but works and, also have “NFT LND” shown using the different lines.
After several iterations of the sketch that involved painstakingly changing the scale, the paths, and the stations we finally had a beautiful, clean and brilliant artwork.
While Dudly was at work with the artwork we came up with interesting names aligned with Web 3 phrases & words for the different stations. We have to say we had really good chuckles when we came up with many of them. Try it! Pick a station you need to go to and find out the different stations you have to pass through.
We kept the animation fairly simple showing the different trains arriving and leaving the stations, and for the audio Dudly mixed together several ambient FXs and peppered it all with music from buskers who are often spotted in these stations performing.
On the other note, we wish that these conferences were more affordable for the general public so that they can be educated about Web3, and make connections. The exclusivity that the price for the tickets creates is something that needs to be looked into if we are looking to grow Web 3 beyond a few Twitter accounts.
