This week's Gazette dropped in the wake of a highly anticipated crypto winter that may be just around the corner. Are y'all prepared frens?
It all started with a masterpiece that came from the Mediterranean side of the world. One that was made on a hastily pulled-out artbook sheet, probably placed on a kitchen top and drawn with a ballpoint pen.
The concept came with it, depicting an ant colony getting ready for the winter inside a terrarium. If you dig deeper, the concept has layers. A terrarium is all controlled by an external body, yet the ant colony works like it's the world as they know it. How different can crypto be?
Once the first sketch was laid out by Red, Dudly refined it to have a properly functioning system that the ants followed in the hoarding. They were hoarding all sorts of NFTs: art, land, PFPs, and of course valuable Redlion Gazettes.
On the top what you see are the top-ranked ants, exposed to the harsh environment of the approaching arid season. They are collecting NFT eggs that need to be handed down the chain of workers below to their respective vaults.
Overlooking all of this is a child who continues to feed the terrarium with more eggs. This may be the inner child in all of us that continues to push the boundaries of the metaverse and feed it more NFTs.
There is a gas station in the far distance where it is weighed against gold; an ETH signboard showing the decline of the prices; a WGMI board that has long been buried into the sands; a burning typewriter also sits half-buried in the sand to depict few news mediums that have failed to genuinely report events in the space, and finally a buried bull skull...
The animation was the part we were excited about as the movement of the ants and the looping of the chain were definitely going to be tricky.
Dudly: I took over the amazing artwork from Amal to bring it to life with some moves. I started with the simpler animations e.g. the small boy showing up to feed his pet ants. The eggs were a little more challenging to keep them flowing in a seamless loop, simply each one needs to finish by the end of the loop on the position where it started. Last but not least there are 10 ants and especially the surface ones needed a bit more animation care. In the end, the piece came up pretty well and has the exact summer vibes we imagined.
Winter, or not, we all clearly have to prepare for such events in crypto. Then again,
Redlion Gazettes will continue to be published during these harsh seasons to keep y'all entertained and informed. On that note see y'all next week frens!
