This week's cover is a depiction of the fall from grace of 3 Arrows Capital which now owes funds to a few gullible lenders.
In the midst of wondering what may make it to the cover as it was a slow week came to the table of the fall of 3AC. It's not new in crypto for successful companies to come crashing down within a matter of days.
At first, we had the idea of creating an AI-assisted cover artwork using MidJourney, a cool application that takes keyword prompts and makes artworks accordingly. A few attempts later we weren't exactly hitting the notes for a nice cover. We decided maybe that it can be tried another week and resorted to a 3D style artwork.
Dudly brought forward a sketch depicting the story. It showed a giant flower vase with dying flowers shaped like arrows, as the liquid that was keeping it alive slowly drains away. Around these are watering cans that lay empty as onlookers inspect this unexpected turn of events.
The sketch next breathed life in 3D, and in a beautiful gold pallete that was super-long overdue for Gazettes. The slight changes in lighting and ambient sounds warp the cover in a mysterious air.
Though we have shelved the idea of an AI-assisted artwork, we have to say that MidJourney is a great tool for creating rough concepts and getting ideas for artworks. But then again nothing beats the ingenuity of humans creating artworks meaningfully with purpose and love.
On another note, we can wish for fewer declines in crypto and sustainable growth in crypto ventures. We will be back next week with another cover and another story!
