This week’s cover is a wild depiction of Yuga Labs’ announcement that there will be a royalty of 5% on Meebits going forward. The general feeling about this was disturbed disappointment amongst the NFT community and we captured that. 

Our first interest for the cover was the NFT black market booming in China, but for now we will let that brew into a stronger story for a comeback. The Yuga-Meebit announcement had created a ruckus amongst the holders and was definitely an article-worthy story. Red’s one-liner for the cover idea was,” I was thinking a cow like meebits and 2 apes sitting and milking her frantically”. Immediately Dudly brought to the table a sketch featuring a Meebit cow lying on a surgical bed getting milked by frantic monkeys. The Meebit costume was decided to be inspired by the punk traits of Matt & John, the creators of Larva Labs.

Once the sketch was agreed on we decided that this could be illustrated in the style used for RL Studios’ Defi-Verse comic book. The artwork was created, tweaked, and adjusted to finally fit the feeling that we were looking for. We had a helpless Meebit cow strapped and locked to the surgical bed while suction pipes drew milk out of it and into the mouths of berserk monkeys, in what feels like a dingy basement somewhere in their yacht club.  

Next in line was adding the visual lighting and motion effects to create the horrific scene. Lo and behold we had a disturbing scene created inside the lab of Dudly few hours later. Another exciting part to this cover was mixing the audio that plays a crucial role in setting the tone of the artwork; frantic chimps, cows mooing, neon lights buzzing, exhaust fans wailing, medical monitors beeping and many more were injected into the scene to form its tone.
