This week saw Redlion Gazette’s 1st AI-assisted cover artwork come to bloom. We used the Midjourney, an AI program that creates images based on text descriptions. We have to say some of the results were mind-blowing.
We made up our minds to finally use Midjourney for this week, and Dudly’s idea that a collage would be a perfect fit was absolutely right. We started off listing all the article references that we could possibly use as directions to create the images and we must say that we were able to come up with some wild-wild ones in the end.
We successfully generated all sorts of images that were pertaining to the topics of the articles for eg. all the kinds of owl characters and things you see were about the Moonbirds leading the CCO movement; Asian characters were related to theMacalinao brothers used a web of bogus identities to create the illusion of a dev community; sun and mountain elements about the Solana & Slope exploit. In the end, we had a juicy cocktail of beautiful imagery to wrap up the cover in a dope collage. That’s when we realized that this was the 99th issue of Redlion Gazette and we had to address that. What we did was, pick the main themes from all our Gazettes having the number 9 in it and generate images in Midjourney. If you carefully scavenge the cover artwork you can spot the astronaut from issue 9, the scuba diver from 19, tuna fish from 39, Bogdanoff brothers from issue 69, and so on and so forth.
Now coming to the program that Midjourney is– mind-blowing. Some of the images generated, especially landscapes were spotless, to say the least. Even some characters that were generated were so good and looked like they were straight out of an anime movie. We have to admit that though AI is taking giant leaps, the reigns of ideation by fa still remain in the hands of us humans.
That is a relief, I must say, at least for time being. In 50 years AI would be creating movies off one-liner concepts. Until then folks, keep yourself entertained with everything crypto, NFTs, and degen with Redlion Gazette! Be on the lookout for next week’s Gazette as we approach a giant milestone!
