The past week has looked dull in comparison to the eventful week the one before that. As, always crypto is never short of drama and emotions, so we took that and depicted the cover for this week.
As said above we came to the board room without much on our plate in terms of news. We decided to bring back the mythology trait with a depiction of the legend of Sisyphus who is reputed to be the founder of the Isthmian Games and is a trickster who receives eternal punishment for trying to cheat Death. He is punished to roll a giant rock up the mountain but eventually just when he is about to reach the summit the rock gets too heavy to be rolled and it rolls down again. Sisyphus continues to bring it back to be met with the same fate.
We found this analogy to be perfect to show how Crypto(only that it would be a giant bag instead of a rock) has been since its inception. On the bright side though, the peak is getting higher and higher. This being a greek mythology we decided to depict it in the ancient style that is common on greek relics from the past.Â
We studied several different artworks from the past and also a game Apotheon set in this style. Once the elements were created, I set out to create the frame-by-frame animation of Sisyphus climbing. Having never done a walk cycle before it was quite a challenge, but in the end, I believe we did a fine job with the limited time we had.Â
After the frame-by-frame animation was done, Dudly took it to AE to compile it with the moving mountain, bag, and the environment behind it. The most difficult part about this process was matching the changing terrain of the mountain with the walk cycle in various different positions. Once that was painstakingly fine-tuned, and some God of War-like music added we had another Gazette cover ready to be fired into the blockchain.
We hope you loved this cover as much as we did making it, especially in this new style that we may consider bringing back for another fitting week.
