This week was relatively uneventful in Crypto and NFTs, but the vibes continue to push the ecosystem forward and to steadier heights.
We took to the board with a plan to execute a cover in reference to the infamous movie “Reefer Madness”. It was a 1936 American propaganda film about drugs, revolving around the melodramatic events that ensue when high school students are lured by pushers to try Marijuana– upon trying it, they become addicted, eventually leading them to become involved in various crimes. Only that in this case it would be “Grifter Madness”, and the drug would obviously be Crypto.Â
The sketches were made relatively quickly as most of the artwork is covered with text. Once the sketch was ready, and since we were to imitate a 70’s feel, I decided to use an old comic style. I had been waiting for the occasion for a while now to use Texture Grit Supply. They have a great collection of gritty brushes, vintage textures, and other effective actions. I bought a Debaser pack that allowed me to mask and paint the objects using patterns that I could mix together to create different shades and textures.
After having finished with the objects, the next task was to come up with witty/funny texts that would be scattered across the artwork. We got a couple of suggestions from our Editor Stephen, who has been of great help in these scenarios. The artwork was created well before time as I had to watch the Argentina-Mexico group match of World Cup 2022. The animations were done on Sunday and they were mostly done on AE except for the butterfly, devil’s laser, and the flames behind him which were done frame-by-frame. Finally for music, we used a jazzy tune with some SFXs to accompany the ensemble.
We hope you loved this vintage-style artwork as much as we did making it. See y’all next week!
