“Earth, 2023. It’s impossible to escape AI. Everywhere you turn, people are ceding the sovereignty of their thoughts to the machines. AI never sleeps; it compiles, aggregates, learns… what happens when it realizes humanity has nothing to contribute?”, sounds like a headline from a newspaper in the future?
This past one was a good week for crypto but a slow week in NFTs. We had to go with a general topic recently in everyone’s conversation all around the world– the power of AI, Chat GPT 3.
For a while now we have been thinking of creating a cover artwork in the typography genre, and this topic presented the perfect opportunity for that. Dudly had an early idea of using the HAL 9000 reference from the classic movie Space Odyssey, a non-self-aware AI assistant that went rogue. We generated various answers from Chat GPT 3 to questions like “What if AI takes over the world?”, “Do you want to take our jobs?”, “Will AI be the God of the future?” and so on and so forth. The answers were quite diplomatic but aware of the possibilities of an AI-ruling future. This was clear from the answer to the question of whether AI will be the God of the future. The first sentence of the answer was, “ It is possible for a dystopian world to be created where AI is considered a god-like figure, but it would likely be the result of a series of complex societal and technological developments”. Will this become the reality?
Dudly created the artwork completely on AE. It was a very GPU-demanding artwork as it involved a large number of texts, animations, and other effects on a significantly large-sized composition. While the animations were nearing completion, we picked a few of the questions, rephrased them, and generated speech audio that gave the emotionless AI tone to the overall soundscape. In the end what we had was an artwork that was dark and interestingly arousing the crises of uncertainty, which makes you question the reality we live in and the one that future generations will live in.
